Who is the QSIA
The QSIA is the seafood industry peak body representing Queensland wild caught fishermen and post harvest operators. These include wholesale and retail merchants along with allied industries that make up the wider seafood sector.

A secure and sustainable supply of local seafood through profitable and progressive fishing industry businesses.
Our Structure
The QSIA structure consists of four Fisheries Committees – Crab, Line, Net and Trawl. Each fishery committee consists of nine representatives from each of the represenative areas of the state. These areas are;
Area 1: NSW Border to Donnybrook
Area 2: Donnybrook to Gympie
Area 3: Gympie to Baffle Creek
Area 4: Baffle Creek to Claireview
Area 5 Claireview to Gumlu
Area 6: Gumlu to Lucinda
Area 7: Lucinda to Wonga Beach
Area 8: Wonga Beach to (and including) Torres Straits
Area 9: Gulf of Carpentaria
The Fisheries Committees are responsible for collecting industry views and providing representation on behalf of their fishery. The QSIA head office provides administrative assistance to the committees ensuring fishery proposals or responses are delivered to government and stakeholders.
Our President
The President of the Association is elected from amongst its members serving a two year term. The President chairs the Annual General Meeting and is an ex-officio member of each of the Fisheries Committees.
Our Board
The QSIA Board is charged by the AGM with doing its business out of session. The Board has statutory responsibility of the legal and financial obligations of the Association. The Board comprises:
- the President
- the Treasurer
- Four Fisheries Directors
- Directors for marketing, retail, training and promotion, business development and RD&E
This representative composition ensures that the Board provides expertise and direction on behalf of the broader membership on all issues of interest to the seafood industry. The Board meets a minimum of four times per year. To contact staff or Board members please go to our contact page.
