![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The QSIA is the peak body representing the Queensland Seafood Industry.Our members include professional fishers, seafood processors, marketers and retailers and other businesses associated with the seafood industry. Our representation to members and the community at large is to promote the consumption of delicious local Queensland Seafood. We provide a leadership role in the sustainable management of our fisheries through our Environmental Management System (EMS) projects to ensure future generations have access to the best seafood in the world – Queensland Seafood. The Gross Value of Production (GVP) in 2006-07 for Queensland wild caught fisheries exceeded $200 million. When you add the $75.5 million value of our thriving Aquaculture sector, clearly everyone loves our seafood. As the retail value represents approximately twice the value of production our seafood industry contributes almost half a billion dollars annually to the Queensland economy. Market research tells us that more than 2 million Queenslanders eat seafood at least once or twice a week and that when asked 92% of Queenslanders said they want to see country of origin labeling on seafood. People want choice and to be able to select fresh local Queensland seafood. If you see incorrectly labeled seafood we urge you report it to the Australian Seafood Consumers Hotline on 1800 737 147 or Seafood Services Australia. This gives us all the opportunity to choose local seafood. Our website has loads of useful information on Queensland seafood;
